Planetary health is about balancing human needs with the preservation of the Earth to sustain the health and well-being of future generations.
This thinking underpins the work of the University's Global Health Academy and in May 2018, Professor Liz Grant, Director of the Academy, will chair a major international event on Planetary Health at McEwan Hall. By bringing together researchers, policy makers, planners and local communities, the aim is to stimulate new collaborations and to advance planetary health solutions.
Planetary health isn't just about large scale activities. It is also about personal commitments. We invite you to join our drive to improve planetary health by making a pledge of your own.
The Edinburgh Alumni Planetary Health Commitment is also being taken forward by a number of our alumni clubs and networks. You can read more about how alumni in Chile, Colorado and Shanghai are hoping to change behaviours and influence their local communities by visiting their pledge page or reading Edit magazine online.
