If changing behaviours was easy, we’d all be super-fit with PhDs, empty inboxes and spotless bathrooms. And, what’s more, climate change probably wouldn’t be a problem.
But in reality, doing the things we know are good for us (not to mention our world) can be a challenge.
The clock is ticking on climate. Do Nation is here to help.
Our platform is powered off years of academic, technical and professional expertise in behaviour change, and our talented, passionate team know how to engage people in climate action, at home and at work.
We have spent 10+ years helping people move from climate anxiety to climate action and on to climate literate innovation. This based on our three core beliefs:
We are all about leveraging the power of community to influence positive change beyond our own actions. We’re passionate about advocating for systems change at all levels, to build a better future for us all.
Our most challenging global problems cannot be solved by governments and non-profits alone, so enter stage right: business!
B Corp is a movement of people using business as a force for good. Do Nation certified as a B Corp in 2017. The community that B Corp creates inspires and motivates us. Together we are mighty. Read more.
Climate perks campaigns to help organisations offer paid ‘journey days’ to empower staff to live their values and choose low-carbon holiday travel. We introduced our slow travel policy years before Climate Perks launched, and came on board as a Founding Partner, sharing advice on the recommended framing and policy.
We were a proud founding collaborator with the global Count Us In campaign. Do Nation tech sat behind the original Count Us In public pledge platform. We continue to work closely with Count Us In and run our site Count Us In Communities for community and employee engagement programmes.
Only 3% of philanthropic giving goes to environmental causes. 1% for the Planet is changing that. Do Nation is a recipient of 1% for the Planet, which means that an organisation’s Do Nation subscription fees count as part of their committed 1% for the Planet contributions.
In 2009 Do Nation founder and CEO Hermione Taylor cycled from London to Morocco to see if she could inspire her friends and family to sponsor her, not with cash but with simple, sustainable actions.
It was popular and impactful. By doing things like cycling to work and eating less meat the trip saved the equivalent CO2e emissions as 84 flights from London to Morocco. People also reported feeling fitter, happier and even saving money as a result!
But it was when Hermione saw the shifts in people’s attitudes that she knew she was really onto something powerful. Since then we’ve worked with 500 organisations across 100 countries, and nearly 60,000 people have pledged. Together our action community is saving 16,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, which is over 42,500 flights from London to Morocco. And these figures are growing every day.
