Content and community support role

Do Nation is a tiny but well established B Corp running a high-impact climate action platform. We’ve helped over 20,000 people to form healthy, environmentally friendly habits, and have a customer base including the likes of innocent drinks, Siemens, and UCL.

As we emerge from Covid-19, demand for our services is picking up significantly and we’re looking to grow the team, helping more and more organisations to really bake sustainability into their people’s behaviours and priorities.

This is an unusual opportunity to join a small founding team at an exciting stage of rapid but organic and customer-fuelled growth. We’re a fully remote team working to UK time zones.

Overview of the role:

We’re looking for someone to help us make sure that our website content stays fresh and engaging, and that our users continue to get the friendly and timely support that they have come to expect.

The ultimate goal of the role is to help us to ensure that Do Nation users have a great experience, leading to maximum environmental impact.

The ideal person will be tech-savvy, full of initiative and self-drive, and have clear, friendly communication skills. They’ll be happy to lend their hand at a variety of tasks as the need arises - that’s simply the nature of working within a micro team like ours.

This is a part time role with flexible hours, to be based remotely anywhere within the UK. There may be opportunities to develop the role over time.

Details of the role:

Some of the tasks we’re looking for help with include:

  1. User support - responding to user queries, such as questions about their pledges and subscriptions.
  2. Managing website and email content - such as updating information and media on the Do Action pages and pledge emails.
  3. Publishing new Do Actions - working with the team to research and create the content behind each of them, and then getting them live and looking good.
  4. Compiling case study content - seeking out powerful stories and quotes from users to help bring our impact to life, and helping to turn this into shareable content.
  5. Social media support, keeping on top of events, news, and other developments related to our Do Actions, and sharing key updates and case studies from Do Nation.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who is...

  • Quick to learn their way around new digital tools and platforms
  • Has a naturally friendly-but-professional communication style
  • Interested and excited by the challenges and opportunities of sustainable living - this is our lifeblood
  • Full of initiative and self-drive - as a tiny team, we expect you to be able to get on with your work with little supervision and minimal support
  • Super systematic in doing and documenting their work - as a remote team, this is key
  • A firm believer in Do Nation’s mission
  • Truly fluent in English

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in using a combination of digital tools such as a CMS, email marketing platforms, and project management tools
  • Understanding of some of the key issues around climate change, sustainability, and the role of individual action

It would be a bonus if you:

  • Have any experience and demonstrable skills in design and photography
  • Can share examples of relevant written content you’ve written

About Do Nation:

Do Nation is all about encouraging healthy, environmentally friendly habits. We have developed an online platform where anyone can either make a pledge or run a campaign to raise pledges - pledges to do things like cycling to work, wasting less food, or using reusable coffee cups.

Since 2013 we have been running successful campaigns with organisations including innocent drinks, Pret a Manger, and Network Rail, helping them to encourage their employees to make pledges and save carbon, water, and waste.

We’re a small, nimble, and committed team - two co-founders working in Edinburgh and Chamonix, punching well beyond our weight. We strongly believe in the potential of our unique model to create a wide scale, meaningful impact on one of the most important issues of our time, and we’re hungry to deliver on that.

As we emerge from Covid-19, demand for our services is soaring and we’re looking at a period of rapid growth. This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established but tiny start-up as part of it’s core team.

While we are commercially focused, social impact is the fuel that drives us - and as such, we are proud to be a certified B Corp. We have an attractive employee benefits package, including training budgets, volunteering days, and slow travel policies.

  • Hours: 2 days / week at first, with potential to increase
